General Questions
How do I get help setting up SkySync?

Installing SkySync takes less than 2 minutes and is incredibly simple to do yourself; no special technical knowledge is necessary or required. After you've downloaded SkySync, an installation wizard will ask you a few simple questions and guide you through the process. However if you do get stuck or run into an unexpected result, please visit our support page where you can download a detailed, step-by-step installation manual.

Once installed, we strongly suggest you take the quick 3 minute tour. If you still have a question, challenge, or even a suggestion, you can always submit an email.

How do I get technical support for SkySync?
There are a variety of support levels depending on the version you have. For SkySync Lite, users can refer to the user manual, FAQ page, support videos, and email inquiries are accepted. For the Pro and Business versions; users have full access to our technical support website where they can enter support tickets.

Our goal is to respond to standard support tickets/requests within 4 hours during normal business hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (EST/EDT) M-F.
Does SkySync do anything to my files?
No, SkySync does not open, change or modify any file.
Does SkySync store my files or file-related information such as properties or metadata?
No, SkySync leverages your existing storage systems to store all files and file-related data.
If I decide to no longer use SkySync, does it have any impact on my stored files or systems?
No, SkySync has no impact on your existing storage systems or files.
How does SkySync access my storage systems?
SkySync is an application that acts on your behalf.  When you access your storage systems, you are using your existing login credentials.  SkySync remembers those settings and connects to those systems and/or sites just as though it were you.

SkySync will never forget your password or Login ID, (they're saved and encrypted on your PC) ...nor will it keep your information on a yellow sticky-note under your keyboard.
How can I use SkySync at work?
You may need to consult with your IT department about installing software on your company PC as well as accessing storage accounts outside your organization's firewall.
Is there additional support available?
Yes, up to 7x24 hour support is available. Please contact us for details.
What are the keyboard shortcuts?
We support the common Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+X, etc.
Is there an SDK (System Developer Toolkit) for SkySync?
Not yet, however we'll offer an SDK and API set by the end of 2013.
Adding/Changing Storage Systems Back to top of page
How do I add a new storage system?
Simply click on the “Add Connector” button on the toolbar. The Link New Account window will open. Select the desired storage system and click OK, or you can also double-click on the Storage System icon. It's a simple 3 step process that takes less than a minute and the SkySync wizard will guide you through them. Please note that you’re going to need your login credentials for your storage system or site.
I don't see my storage system listed as a connector?
We are always adding new storage platforms. Have a suggestion? Please send us a note on your preferred storage system.
Is there a limit to the number of active storage connections?
No, You can connect to as many storage systems/sites as you like. For SharePoint, you can link to an unlimited number of Sites or Site Collections.
How do I connect to my Networked Storage (File Share)?
No special connection setup is required. They will automatically display in the tree view on the Explore/Move tab.
Will SkySync affect any agreements with my Storage Providers?
No, SkySync leverages the storage platform's standard published Application Program Interfaces (API's).

What are the PC requirements to run SkySync Desktop?
There is no minimum RAM or processor speed requirement however we recommend a desktop screen resolution of at least 1024x 768.
What are the Operating System requirements to run SkySync Desktop?
SkySync has been certified (and supported) to run on Windows Windows 7 and 8 (32 and 64 bit). Although we don't support them, we’ve tried it on Windows XP as well as Vista, and it seemed to function without issues.
Will SkySync work on an iPad or Android device?
SkySync will offer iOS and Android support in late 2013
How does SkySync keep my connections secure from my computer to my storage providers?
SkySync uses the same communication protocols your provider supports and is configured to use. Most cloud providers require secure connections via HTTPS, API keys, and protocols like OAuth before they allow SkySync to access your storage. SharePoint for example, supports both HTTP and HTTPS with various options like Windows Integrated Security. Check with your provider or network administrator about questions specific to your network connections.
How does SkySync protect my passwords while adding a connection?
SkySync encrypts your password then stores it on your PC where it is protected by your operating system security.
Does SkySync impact existing document security?
No, SkySync does not override any security definitions within your existing systems. Your existing definitions remain in place.
Does SkySync scan for viruses?
No, You’ll need a good anti-virus program for that.
What do I need to do to configure SkySync at work?
You can use SkySync wherever there is an internet connection. At work, at your favorite coffee shop, your neighbor's wireless, or at home. When on your work computer, you might need permission to install SkySync and you might also need to know some technical networking details such as Proxy Settings and integrated authentication. You can also check your browser settings, if your local policies permit.
What if I’m behind a firewall?
You might need to add a rule that says SkySync is authorized. Access Ports will vary depending on the connector. It’s best to set up an exception for SkySync rather than a specific set of ports.

How do I perform a basic search?
From the Search Tab, you can select one or more Active Search Connections (the standard default is all of them).
What is that Make Favorite button on the search screen?
If you find yourself performing the same search, time after time, you can save that as a favorite search. You’ll be asked to enter a name for the search and you can always change the name if you prefer without reentered the search criteria.
Syncing, Copying, Moving and Archiving Files Back to top of page
What types of files can I Sync/Move/Copy/Archive?
SkySync moves any digital content to/from any connected storage system.
What are the operational differences between Copy and Move?
Copy as the name implies, replicates the exact files, folder structure and related properties (even if the systems does not natively support them) to the "Destination" storage system. By default the drag-and-drop process is a "Copy" routine.

If you'd rather Move, simply hold down the shift key, then drag and drop. Whether Copying or Moving, users are warned, then asked to reconfirm either the copy and move operation before it executes.
Can I use SkySync to upload content from my local PC to any of the connected storage systems?
Yes, under Navigation; just drag and drop content into a storage provider.
Can I move/copy folders and folder structures?
Yes; files, folders, and folder structures (aka: taxonomies). SkySync will also automatically copy/move their file-related properties.
How do I move folders and folder structures?
Click on the Navigation Icon. All of your connected systems will appear in a standard "tree" view in the left pane with the folder details in the center pane (the Source files). Click and hold the files you want to move and drag them to the desired folder or storage system to the right side (aka: The Destination system or folder). You can also right click or use the Copy/Paste icons at the top of the screen. A copy/move operations screen dialog with dynamic progress bars of the copy job will appear at the bottom of the screen.
I want to move/copy a terabyte or more of content... Can SkySync handle that?
Yes, SkySync is architected to move large volumes (terabytes) of files. The Pro and Business versions are limited to a single PC for automated Syncing, Copying, Moving, and Archiving operations, however the Enterprise version maybe deployed across multiple servers.
Does Skysync support moving/copying SharePoint Document Versions?
Yes, SkySync moves SharePoint-versioned documents.
