Cloud Migration for Higher Education Webinar
Moving Campus to the Cloud
Watch On Demand Now
Join Internet2, SkySync, and a panel of experts to discuss best practices and expectations for higher ed institutions planning their cloud migration.
In this webinar, you will hear from higher education institutions, including the University of Miami and Harvey Mudd College, as they share insights about how they’ve successfully migrated large datasets to cloud content platforms (including Office 365, Google G Suite, and Box) to increase mobility and collaboration across campus. Experts will discuss the highlights and “gotchas” that they found along the way to help your team ensure your own preparedness as you plan for upcoming migration initiatives.
We will also provide information on the Internet2 NET+ SkySync program and how the research and education community can work together to deliver intelligent & automated file migration across cloud and on-premises platforms, with no disruption to campus operations.
Veronica Morganhart – Harvey Mudd College
Veronica Morganhart is the CIS Project Manager at Harvey Mudd College where she has worked for the past nine years. Her additional roles and experience include serving as a systems administrator for OnBase and Cognos for Business Intelligence reporting. Harvey Mudd is near the end of a long project migrating from on-prem storage to the cloud (Google and SharePoint).
Carlos Gonzalez Massuet – University of Miami
Carlos is a Senior System Administrator at the University of Miami. He has over 15 years of IT experience and holds several IT certifications. Carlos has managed large data migrations from on-premises to cloud providers, and from one cloud provider to another.
Mari Lovo – University of Miami
Mari is the Director of IT Cloud Infrastructue Services at the University of Miami. She brings 20+ years of IT Infrastructure experience, with 17 of experience in K-12 and Higher Ed. At the University of Miami, Mari is responsible for Public and Private Cloud, including Storage, DevOps and Data Center Operations.
As part of ongoing infrastructure modernization projects, the university is in the process of migrating large datasets from its on-premises network file servers to the cloud. However, due to the size of the university as well as its many different needs, it is continually completing departmental migrations across on-premises servers and various cloud-based platforms, including Box, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business.
Without a desire to lock users into a single platform, the university’s systems analyst team has just one main goal in mind: to move as much content into the cloud as they can, securely and conveniently as possible.
